ABOUT

Hello, I’m Syrene. I’m a freelance frontend developer from San Diego with a diverse background in web development, video production, and photography. Currently, I'm working at Inedo as a solutions engineer, creating technical content for DevOps.

I first delved into coding while studying Multimedia Production at California State University, Northridge. For our capstone project during my final year, my team created an award-winning VR app that was recognized at our department's annual Multimedia Production showcase. However, upon graduating, I focused on freelancing in video production and photography. A trip to Japan in 2019 inspired me to move here in 2020, where I reignited my passion for tech and completed Le Wagon Tokyo's web development bootcamp.

When I’m not coding, I enjoy creating videos and capturing moments from my adventures around Japan.

The start of the new year has shifted focus to job applications, so coding has taken a backseat. Unfortunately, no new code to share at the moment, but hopefully there will be better news soon.

2024 has been a year of learning and growth, both in tech and in life. It’s also the year I graduated as a web developer.

Here’s to 2025 – may it bring even more new and exciting opportunities. Happy New Year.

Learning has been a bit slow lately with the nice autumn weather and some travel opportunities. I recently got to visit Fukuoka for the first time and took part in the Fukuoka Marathon Fun Run (5.2km). I had a great time exploring the city, trying local foods, and, of course, running.

Below is a video with some of the highlights from my trip. Enjoy.

As an avid fan of Apple products, I recently decided to learn swift and swiftUI. Over the past month, I've been taking on a 100 days of swiftUI challenge, and I've already built a few small iOS apps to practice the basics. So far, I’ve created a calculator for splitting bills and a game where you guess country flags, among other projects.

You can check out the code and future projects as I progress through the course on my github repository by clicking the swift logo below.

Welcome to my portfolio. I built this from the ground up using javascript, html, and css. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did creating it. Thank you for visiting.

Here, you can follow along with my tech journey as I keep learning and growing as a developer. I’ll also share some of my videos and photos from time to time.
